The University of Louisville football team received a legacy recruiting commitment – and its first pledge in the 2016 class - on Saturday from Suwanee, Ga., cornerback Baylen Buchanan, the son of former Cardinals and NFL standout Ray Buchanan.
Baylen Buchanan received his first scholarship offer from
U of L on Saturday after attending the Cards' camp with his
uncle Bobby, who also played at Louisville. He committed soon after.
"I believe it was a great choice because obviously I get a lot of love from the whole community, having my uncle and dad go there"Baylen Buchanan told The Courier-Journal. "Also coach (Bobby) Petrino is a great coach with (cornerbacks coach) Terrell Buckley. I feel like they know what it takes to get me to the next level."
Buchanan, who is 5 feet 11 and 172 pounds and attends Peachtree Ridge High, has yet to receive a rating by Rivals.com or 247Sports.com.
Rivals analyst Woody Wommack said Buchanan didn't play a lot as a sophomore on a talented Peachtree Ridge team, but "is expected to be a big piece of the puzzle" in 2014.
"With his pedigree and size and skill set, I expect him to have a breakout season this fall for one of the Atlanta area's best high school programs," Wommack said.
